Netflix has announced a $1 billion investment in Mexico for the period 2025-2028, earmarked for the production of series and films. This plan includes the production of approximately 20 productions annually, strengthening the country's audiovisual industry and generating new job opportunities.
Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos emphasized that this investment reflects the shared vision of a vibrant and prosperous Mexico, full of growth and opportunity. Additionally, the company will collaborate on programs to develop Mexican talent and work with Estudios Churubusco to improve its facilities.
President Claudia Sheinbaum celebrated this decision, emphasizing that Mexico is a great country not only for its wealth but also for the talent of its citizens. She noted that the audiovisual industry significantly boosts the economy, promotes tourism, and generates a considerable number of jobs.
This investment builds on the decade-long relationship between Netflix and Mexico, which began with the production of "Club de Cuervos," the platform's first series produced outside the United States. Since then, Netflix has worked in more than 50 locations across 25 states, collaborating with prominent Mexican creators and contributing to the international recognition of Mexican culture.
Netflix's initiative will not only boost the national economy but will also allow Mexican stories and talent to reach global audiences, strengthening the country's presence on the international film and television scene.
